Media Audiences: What techniques does the opening sequence use to appeal to a weekday mainstream audience? -
I think this text trails away from the normal standard shows where the opening sequence is through the title and introduction of the character with a theme song in the background. In this text the audience is thrown into into the story straight away with the scene of a house being spied upon and a short sequence of the camara shaking and in a fast motion moving towards and throught the house to the first character, by using this they were able to show who was being spied upon in an entertaining and engaging way. I think binary oppositions is also used as we are intorduced to a happy couple and what seems to be a disturbed couple who envy and dispise the happy couple and even the way the two couples intereact shows the oppositions.

Media Institutions: What does this text tell us about the media institutions involved?
This tell us the media institution involved in this case which is BBC try to target specific audiences with this type of text. From the opening sequence we can see that this is an adult drama from the serious tension and build up created. From what i already know about the BBC they were made and started up to inform and educate the british audiences. To this day the BBC try to do this with the wide range range of programs they show and in this wide range they have action/thriller drama. This is were this text is used to inform the British audience.

Media Forms: How does the extract follow the codes and convention of an opening sequence?
In some respects this does not follow the conventional opening sequence most dramas have as it starts of into the story and shows the title sequence after this to give the audience a little insight into the episodes. in other aspects such as biuld up of tenstion is does follow the normal codes and conventions as we expect to see this in action drama's. also the enigma codes are created by the non diegetic music and the fact that there is a girl at the beginning. there is a child playing which is then followed a woman conducting normal everyday life chores. the sequence also uses high key lighting in the opening to the situation that is occuring.

Media Representation: How are people and places represented in this opening sequence?
I think the places used in the opening sequences were represented in a negative way as the colours thath where shown were dull and lifeless. I think binary oppositions is also used and this represents the people in the drama, as we are intorduced to a happy couple and what seems to be a disturbed couple who envy and dispise the happy couple and even the way the two couples intereact shows the oppositions. by using normal characters adds to the realism of the storyline. for example having a girl at the beginning skipping is what you expect from the small school girl. furthermore by the woman doing chores is like a everyday thing you expect. most of the action occurs in the home which also allows the audience to interact with the characters as well as what is hapenning in the sequence.
